About

Breath of Fresh Air

An Outdoor Play Summit for thought leaders to connect and share their passion for outdoor play

Breath of Fresh Air is a two-day Outdoor Play Summit where thought leaders, practitioners, researchers, and policy makers can connect and share best practices.

This innovative national forum on outdoor play takes place in an open air environment, at the Ottawa Forest and Nature School and Wesley Clover Parks Campground, located on 900 acres of land in Canada’s National Capital Region. It will feature inspiring keynote addresses and hands-on, in-the-forest workshop opportunities.

Breath of Fresh Air is organized by the Child and Nature Alliance of Canada (CNAC) in partnership with the Healthy Active Living and Obesity Research Group (HALO) at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario Research Institute, Outdoor Play Canada, and Earth Day Canada.

Why Outdoor Play?

Unstructured play is a universal, developmentally appropriate, culturally relevant expression of childhood.

It is what children and youth do when they follow their own instincts, ideas and interests, in their own way, and for their own reasons.

We are passionate about connecting children and youth with the outdoors to help them develop and thrive.
